Bowflex has been designing innovative exercise equipment for many years, and the redesigned TreadClimber TC100 is no different.  If you are in the market for a treadmill read-on as we review the TreadClimber TC100. It’s much more than a simple treadmill.

As someone who deals with back problems, I am always on the lookout for great, low-impact ways to exercise.  The TreadClimber from Bowflex is a machine unlike any other and provides an excellent workout in less time than traditional fitness equipment.

What is a TreadClimber?

Think of a treadmill, but with separate belts for each of your feet.  These belts are called treadles, and as you walk, the treadles rise to meet your foot. This motion gives you a lower impact workout than walking or jogging alone.

What makes a TreadClimber unique?

TreadClimber is a unique machine built for walking.  This machine combines attributes from a treadmill, a stair climber and an elliptical trainer to form a 3 in 1 design.

Now how do they pull that off?

Like a treadmill, the TreadClimber uses independent moving belts that let you move forward.  Whereas a treadmill has one large platform that you walk on, the TreadClimber has a treadle for each foot.

As you move forward, you step up, like with a stair climber, then the treadles rise up to meet your feet, with a low-impact, elliptical motion.

What makes the TreadClimber different?

The unique design and calorie burn are what sets TreadClimber apart from other machines on the market. You get a better workout, in less time than say walking or jogging, and without the impact involved with running.  You can burn more calories with less impact on your body which is a win-win.

Combining the walking motion of a treadmill, the calorie burn that comes with a stepper, with the low impact motion of an elliptical trainer, you get an awesome walking workout.

TreadClimber TC100 calorie burn

As I briefly mentioned, another interesting fact is that the TreadClimber burns more calories (at the same speed settings) than a stair climber or a treadmill. According to a study posted on the Bowflex website, the Treadclimber burns up to 2.5x the calories of using a treadmill at the same speed setting.

TreadClimber gives you a low-impact, high calorie burns, walking workout. If walking is your thing, then you might want to consider taking a closer look at the TreadClimber TC100.

Using the TreadClimber TC100

This is the easy part, you simply get on the machine and start walking. There are built-in programs and you can adjust the speed to your liking.  This machine is easy to operate and you will be on your way in no time.

How is a workout session on the TC100?

The maximum speed setting on the Bowflex TreadClimber TC100 is 4 mph which may not sound like a lot compared to other machines. Trust me though, walking at 4 mph combing the stepper with the motion of an elliptical is no joke.

The unit does come with a media shelf, so you can catch up on your shows while walking. I think that is important to note if you are a person who likes to walk you can do so in the comfort of your own home.  I am all for getting outdoors and exercising, but the TreadClimber gives you a great alternative, and you can be entertained while walking.

If weather or work schedules prevent you from getting outside, a TreadClimber might be a great option for you.

Conclusion: Bowflex TreadClimber TC100 review

Final word

The TreadClimber TC100 is meant for walking.  The innovative 3 in 1 design gives you a high-calorie burn, low impact exercise option. You can burn more calories in the same amount of time, compared to other equipment on the market.  The unique design and efficient calorie-burning are what sets this machine apart.

If you are interested in more information or would like to purchase the TreadClimber TC100 we recommend going right to the source.

Assembly

Now for the fun part, assembling your TreadClimber.  Assembly is not too difficult, but I would set aside a few hours and you may want to have a buddy to help (not required, but nice to have).

If you would rather not build the machine yourself, you can opt to have someone do that for you. The in-home assembly will bring the unit into your home, set it up, calibrate it, then you will be good to go.

Warranty

Bowflex includes a 2-year warranty on the parts and frame and 90 days on labor. You can also order replacement parts if you are outside of the warranty period.

Storing your TreadClimber TC100

The machine is not overly large and has transport wheel, so you can move it to store it if needed.  The unit does weigh 158 pounds, so you may not want to move it a lot.  But at only 57” x 31.5” it doesn’t take up a lot of space in your home.  TreadClimbers take up less space than a treadmill so they are great if you have limited space.

I am curious to get your thoughts on the TreadClimber, please leave your comments below.  If you have any questions I will be happy to help.

  2. Oh, the TreadClimber sounds magnificent! It’s still too pricy for me, but hopefully, with my income plan, I’ll be able to get one soon. I have a treadmill now, and I don’t use it nearly as much as I should. Thank you for this review. I’m definitely going to keep the TreadClimber in mind!

  3. Awesome! Finally a treadmill that will fit in my room.

I dislike the treadmills at the gym because they are so huge. When I think of buying one, I have no rooms that it will fit in (and not be the only thing in that room!). But we do have winter where I live and being able to walk indoors and watch movies on my tablet would be wonderful.

I have heard varying comments about Bow Flex and I am wondering what your experience with them is? Is it easy to get help?

    • Hi Irma, thanks for your comment. You are right, having a treadmill in your living room takes up a lot of space. The TreadClimber is a great alternative to a treadmill for a lot of people. Especially like you mentioned, if you live a climate that is harsh. My interaction with the folks at Bowflex has been great. The online chat feature is easy to use the and the customer service folks are knowledgable and helpful. Let me know if you have any further questions, I am happy to help.

  4. Hi Steve,

I have used a lot of cardio equipment in my life so I know what’s out there. I’ve tried this piece in the store a few times and I have to say that I really like it. While I never have owned it or used it extensively, I thought it seemed like a very solid piece of home cardio equipment. If I had the room I’d love to own one. Thank you for this thorough review. I really learned more about it than I knew and I think I might just have to own one of these sooner than later. Thanks again!
