All you have to do is eat right and exercise, it sounds SO simple. There are several significant problems with doing this all by yourself, though.

First, do you know where to start?  Sure, you can probably figure it out, but learning how to exercise and diet is not always as easy as it seems.  You have to understand what to eat and when to eat. You also need a consistent exercise schedule and regimen.
