Thank you for checking out my Movement For Modern Life review.  MFML is a subscription-based yoga platform, and I am happy to say that I enjoy it.  If you are interested in doing yoga at home and on your schedule read on and see if Movement for Modern Life might also work for you.

First things first, I must admit that I have an on-again, off-again relationship with yoga.  I have been doing yoga off and on over the past couple of years. And, to be completely honest, it’s been more off than on, but I am trying to change that.

Why I am doing yoga

I think I have already touched on this, but I am practicing yoga to help me feel better.  I have dealt with back problems for years, and I know a lot of people have success with yoga.  For me, yoga is another tool I can add to my tool belt in my fight against back pain.

Review of Movement for Modern Life YogaSo why am I doing yoga? To improve in the following areas:

  • Flexibility
  • Balance
  • Core strength
  • Posture
  • Relax my mind and body

Okay, we have laid the groundwork for how yoga can help with back pain and have pretty much uncovered the truth…unless it’s going to be convenient and easy, I will not be practicing yoga.  That brings me to Movement For Modern Life.

What is Movement For Modern Life?

As I mentioned before, this is a subscription-based yoga program with some fantastic instructors.  You have access whenever and wherever it is convenient for you. No more going to the gym, you can practice yoga anywhere you like.

Drill down to find your fit

One of the excellent features of MFML is that there are many ways to filter and find whatever you are looking for. For example, some of the available filters are:

  • Style
For instance, you can filter for Hatha, Vinyasa Flow, Pilates, Yoga Nidra. If there is a style, you are looking for it’s easy to find.
  • Emotion
Including, Move from Anger, Move into Happiness, or Move into Calm
  • Benefit
Examples include Healthy Hips, Yoga for Athletes, Core Strength, Stress/Anxiety
  • Level
    Beginners, Improvers, and Intermediate/Advanced
  • Duration
You can filter by how long you want to spend on your practice that day. With options from under 10 minutes, to over 60 minutes.
  • Teacher
If you have a favorite teacher, you can search for him or her and get started.

So far, I have been working through Healthy Hips, levels one, two, and three.  My hips are horribly tight from sitting and from years of back problems, so this is an excellent place for me to start.  I have been doing in the 10 to 20 minute per day range so far, and that is a good start.

The best thing is, there are a wide variety of programs available for different levels of yoga.  I love the fact that there is a button on the top menu that says “BEGINNERS”, that is exactly where I started.

What I like about Movement For Modern Life

I am a yoga beginner. And, happily for me, there is a beginner level which has been the perfect place to start.

I love the fact that the instructors teach you step by step how to perform and hold these poses, making this an excellent option for folks who are just starting out with yoga.

Movement for Modern Life Offer

When I advance, there will be more options available to me, so I will not outgrow this program anytime soon.  That is one thing I always look for, will there be room for me to grow, stay engaged, and not get bored.

I really think there is enough content to keep me busy for a long time, and new content is being added as well.

One of the instructors talks about doing a little bit every day and how beneficial that is over time, so if you have ten minutes in the morning before work, you can get some work in.

I think the 14-day free trial is absolutely worth it, you can test drive the program for two weeks and see if you want to commit long term.

Yoga challenges

I am going to start the Healthy Back challenge here in a few days because I think that is an excellent next step for me.

Once you sign up for a challenge, you will get an email the morning after you sign up.  How about that for a push in the right direction?

There are challenges, including

    • I feel your pain…literally. I completely understand how a busy schedule gets in the way, been there, done that. That is one thing I love about this program, there are short classes you can take, and one of the instructors even said that a little bit each day is very beneficial and you will see improvement. I have been actively engaged in the beginner’s hips classes and that is a great start for me.

Let me know if you have any questions, I will help out if I can.

  2. Hello Steve,
I have back problems for many years and my friend also told me that yoga can fix this problems, so I just started to learn how to do yoga on Youtube, but there were many videos and I didn’t know how to choose from, I definitely need a complete training system.
Thanks for introducing this yoga program with me, I’ll give it a try on the first 14 days.
    Thank you.

    • Hi Charles, thanks for your comment. That was one of the biggest issues for me, was where to start with yoga. Yes, there are a ton of free videos available and if you know what you are doing, I suppose those are great. I love the fact that MFML has so many options to drill down, even a novice like me can figure out where to start. The “Beginner” menu item helps too :).

Let me know if you need any help. I definitely encourage you to take a test drive with the 14-day free trial, you have nothing to lose.

  6. I am really glad I came across your post. I’ve recently done a bit of reading into yoga myself. I’ve come to realise that the benefits associated with yoga are a lot. The benefits way out-weigh all the hustle involved in getting down to your yoga class and the slight discomfort you might have as a beginner. I am giving yoga a right go and will recommend everyone to do same.
I am definitely sharing your article with friends and family. Thanks a lot for sharing!

  7. Hey Steve, this sounds like an amazing program. The benefits of yoga are well stated and have become a huge part of peoples lives for sure. It is an essential part of any routine for athletes in today’s world. Building core strength and flexibility is a must in sports like golf, hockey etc… the list goes on.

Having lower back issues myself from years of sports, I have practiced some beginner yoga and it has done wonders for me. I like the fact that this is not time consuming and you’re able to squeeze it into a tight schedule doing this from home. The way that you can move through different levels and keep challenging yourself is encouraging too. Keep up the good work, This is awesome!
