Losing weight is hard, no doubt about it.  Figuring out the right foods to eat can be challenging as well.  What if there was a better way?  With the Noom green foods list, can you really eat more food and still lose weight?  I encourage you to keep reading and find out more.

Losing weight involves consuming fewer calories than you burn.  It seems so simple, just eat less food, and you should lose weight, right?  Well, it sounds easy in theory, but it’s tough for a lot of people.

The problem is that cutting too many calories can actually stall your weight loss.  When you don’t eat enough food, you can put your body into starvation mode, which slows down your metabolism.

Many people struggle with weight loss because they don’t know where to begin or how to go about losing weight. We get bombarded with all sorts of media telling us how to lose weight by eating this, or not eating that.  More likely than not, these diets don’t work; they are too restrictive.

The Noom green foods list takes the guesswork out of choosing the right foods to eat when you want to lose weight. You will have a system in place that will help you make good choices when it comes to food.

With this article, I will walk you through this innovative healthy weight loss program.

What is Noom?

Noom is an innovative leader in mobile health coaching, which takes a different approach to weight loss.  The method that Noom employs is meant to be sustainable versus a lot of traditional diets that fail.  Noom is designed around changing your habits, taking poor habits when it comes to eating and reinforcing better, healthier habits.

Through the Noom app, you have access to a team of health professionals who will guide you on your way to a healthy lifestyle.  From food and exercise tracking to identifying your food triggers, Noom has you covered in your weight loss journey.

Noom is not just a food and exercise tracking app. There is so much more!

Calories matter

Losing weight comes down to calories. As I mentioned before, the concept of losing weight is pretty simple, take in fewer calories than you burn.  Although it is a simple idea, losing weight can be very difficult to execute.

A big part of losing weight is achieving that full feeling.  You also have to be able to eat the foods you like.  If you are on a diet of foods that you don’t like, and you never get that full feeling, you are most likely going to fail.

The Noom diet program favors foods that are high in water content like fruits and vegetables, lean meats, and stuff like that; foods that help you feel full.

Caloric Density

Now, a little bit about those foods that help fill you up, this comes down to caloric-density.  Caloric-density is the number of calories compared to the volume of the food.  Low calorie-dense foods have fewer calories, but help to fill you up.  High-calorie density foods are foods that have more calories and don’t fill you up.  Foods with higher water content are critical to the Noom program.

We will get more into food later on, but here is an example. Take grapes versus raisins, which happen to be the same food, but have different water content.  One cup of raisins has a high-calorie density, about 500 calories, whereas one cup of grapes has about 60 calories for the same cup of food. Grapes have higher water content and help to fill you up.

That is just one example of changing out one food for another that can help you lose weight. Noom will help you make these food choices, and that is one of the beautiful parts of the program.

Noom green foods list

The food in the Noom program is divided up into three categories, green, yellow, and red.  Food from the green group should fill the majority of your diet, as these are less calorie dense and will help to make you feel full.  The yellow category is okay in moderation, and red food is the most calorie-dense.Noom green foods list

Now, just because you see the word “green,” that doesn’t necessarily mean greens like you are probably thinking.  The Noom green food list covers the foods that should make up the bulk of your diet.  I bet this list is not a huge surprise, but there are definitely some foods I was not expecting.

The foods in the green category are the least calorie-dense, meaning fewer calories, and they fill you up.  Honestly, this is a pretty darn good list of food if you ask me and I think that is why a lot of people succeed with Noom.

One great thing about the Noom app is this; if there is a food you don’t like, there are alternatives offered as suggestions.  That brings me to the next point.

Noom food database

The database is chock-full of a ton of different foods.  You will have a lot of options and variety to choose from when it comes to eating.  Don’t worry about getting bored or completely cutting out all of your favorite foods.

That is another of the beautiful aspects of the Noom diet plan; you don’t have to cut out eating your favorite foods altogether.  BUT you do have to practice moderation with said foods.  Take this example. I am kind of a junk food guy, although not as much as I used to be.

Potato chips and dark chocolate happen to be two of my favorites.  Now on the Noom plan, I can eat some chips and follow that up with maybe an apple, banana, or non-fat Greek yogurt.  What this does is helps to satisfy my craving for chips, but also helps me get some food from the green category to help me feel full.

What is expected of you?

Well, this is where the rubber meets the road right?  All of the wonderful features built into the Noom app are designed to help you every step of the way. If you are committed to your weight loss goals, Noom is definitely committed to helping you achieve your goals.

I encourage you to give the program a test drive with the 14-day trial.  Yes, you will need to enter your credit card information, but if you decide Noom is not for you, then you can cancel before the 14 days are up and you are off the hook.  Give it a shot and see what you think; the first step is up to you.

How can you eat more and lose weight?

One of the biggest obstacles for people losing weight, is they feel like they have to starve themselves.  To successfully keep weight off long term, this is not a great approach.  You need to be able to enjoy the food you eat.

Noom takes the approach of filling your plate with water-rich foods, which are low in calories, but are high in volume, thus low caloric-density.  Foods like veggies, lean meats, low-fat dairy, etc. are excellent choices. Remember the grapes vs. raisins example I mentioned earlier?  One cup of grapes and one cup of raisins are vastly different in terms of calories.

With foods that are low in calorie density, you can eat more and get the same amount of calories. That is how you can actually eat more and still manage to lose weight.

Noom support

Whether it’s working out at the gym, or trying to lose weight, going it alone is not only harder but also a lot less fun.  But, if you have someone, or a group of people to support and motivate you, which can make a huge difference.

For example, I think it’s a lot more fun and engaging to take a group fitness class, like a boot camp, or CrossFit type exercise class, versus going to the gym alone and working out.  The camaraderie goes a long way to helping me stay motivated and also holds me accountable, so I have to show up and commit.

With Noom, you have a dedicated team who is available to help you with questions you may have and guide you along the way.  I think the chances of success are much higher when you have a support system and help you stay on track.

How much does Noom cost?

Noom offers a variety of price plans, ranging from monthly to an annual plan.  The monthly plan is $59 each month, and the yearly plan is $199 for the whole year.  As you can see, the longer you commit, the monthly price drops considerably.  Consider that you will have a dedicated team of folks who really want to see you succeed.

Conclusion: Noom green foods list

When you are trying to lose weight and live a healthy lifestyle, knowing which foods you can eat is very important. I know we covered a lot more than just the green food list, but Noom has a lot to offer.

If you are interested in taking Noom for a 14-day test drive, I think that is a great way to get started.  If you decide to cancel, it’s no problem, and you can do that before your trial period expires.
